Hey reddit!
My background is: I started journaling daily. That turned into less of a "I ate a sandwich today" type event, and I found myself writing thoughts, essays, questions. My job is unrelated and clearly doesn't fulfill something that writing does for me. Topics include culture, society, productivity, the path to happiness, consciousness, religion. This has gone on for 10 years.
I'm not trying to replace my job with this, but if it ever could, and it actually helped people, I would be thrilled. Everything I've written or collected from others, I realized has been with the unspoken intention of helping someone else, to be healthier, mentally stronger, have better relationships, or overcome their own challenges.
Is there a place for this kind of information in the blog world? Personally, the only things I read online are research papers and scientific type blog posts, for ex. the guy who spent 200k on testing bio-hacking ideas on himself. I read books, and listen to podcasts so I'm totally out of the loop.
I'm not fond of the idea of a one way communication channel, where I just put information out there, and can't actually discuss with people, or help them resolve something. I don't see myself scrolling through and replying to a feed of comments, that does not seem efficient or constructive. But to the contrary, a book lacks any capacity for response at all.
tl;dr: I've got writings, and I don't feel like a blog is a good medium, but is it? Why do you blog? Are you impacting people?
