So, today marks one month since I impulsively created a blog. I've repeatedly googled things like "how many visitors/views should I be getting in the first month of blogging" and I found reading about the experiences of others helpful. So, here's some insights, and some challenges faced in the first month of blogging.
I would just like to say a big thank you to u/Selaen who gave me some very detailed and helpful feedback in the August feedback thread. This really helped me find some direction.
I am eagerly awaiting Septembers feedback thread so I can get some more feedback now that I've sorted some of the basics out.
I'm just going to throw out numbers here really. Hopefully someone will find it useful.
So, first month: wordpress stats say 136 visitors, 302 views. Analytics says 79 users, 111 sessions. I have no idea if this is good/bad/average. No comments, no shares, and only one subscriber (my sister). Anyway I'm not too fussed about that at the moment, I know it all takes time.
Social media marketing:
What's working: Reddit, Quora
What's not working: Pinterest
Twitter and Instagram are somewhere in between as I'm still building a following.
Only two people know I've started a blog so I haven't gone down the family and friends route yet. To afraid of failing publicly!
Most useful resources: Canva & Pixabay
DA is 0, PA is 0
Building backlinks courtesy of Quora - if that counts as backlinks?
I still have not got the hang of SEO and keywords. I struggle with keyword density as trying to insert the long tail keywords makes the sentences awkward.
Anyway, I've rambled on a bit and this post is rather messy. A bit like a disorganised brain fart. Hopefully someone will find something useful though!
I love how supportive this sub is. Thanks for listening! :)
