Is it a fact carved in stone that if you update your blog frequently, you will get more traffic from Google?

Does writing new content frequently and regularly gets Google to bring your blog more readers?

The reason I asked is because, from my experience, I get more traffic if I spend more time sharing in socials. The downside to this is traffic is not sustainable.
