Hello everyone,
I want to dedicate this post to all of you who are just starting out. Perhaps you've been at this for a few months now. Maybe you started last week. Regardless, I want you, all of you, to know you're not alone.
I'm not sure what your goals are. Whether you mean to earn an income on a popular blog dedicated to driving traffic or achieve a distant goal of becoming an accomplished writer. Either way, you have to start somewhere.
I don't mean to draw a dictomy here. Many people fall in between as I expect many people have goals that aren't so distinct. It could be that I'm projecting here, but I believe it's true. Ideas come to us through exploration; only occasionally by chance.
I myself am very new to this. I have wanted to write for years. Years and years. But I never felt it was my calling for a number of vague and unverifiable reasons. This month I bought a domain to change that. I've written 5 measly posts of which I'm proud of only by virtue of having written them. In hindsight that first step is enough to prove yourself wrong. But there's only one way hindsight works.
Naturally, as I've come to realize in the past couple weeks, having a goal in mind, or some kind of vision of what you hope to achieve with your blog–or in your life more importantly–is an invaluable key to success. This discovery has literally dawned on me as I write this.
The only advice I can offer is this: you aren't alone. I say this in part because I'm so inexperienced, but also because this reminder is the reason I come back to this subreddit so often. We learn from each other. Thank you to everyone who takes the time to write up detailed guides and tips. Thank you to those of you who ask the right questions.
Good luck, and if you need support, you know where to find it.
