I am searching for the best mobile hotspot option in my new place. Googling “mobile hotspot options” and performing online searches does not clearly help with Jack shit. I would have expected to have found some random tech blog that clearly and easily explains everything in easy-to-understand terms. I have an att phone and was contemplating usage or addition of data to my cell plan to see if that would work. I don’t think it would. Then I started exploring hotspot options and could not find one good site that clearly and easily broke it down for me. I find myself resorting to having to physically walk into the ATT, Best Buy, and Verizon stores like a fucking caveman. Surprisingly, the employees there are not as knowledgeable as you would expect them to be. At least the ones I visited weren’t. Bottom line is it’s taken me hours to determine the following. Any tech bloggers help me out:
Att doesn’t give a shit about mobile hotspot bullshit because they expect you to pay for the cable man to come install broadband in your place. They have a $250 nighthawk device and apparently the data plans for this device are stupid expensive. Like $70 for 9GB... however the data plans for the nighthawk are nowhere to be found even after I logged into my att account. So tomorrow I’m going into the att store to find out why anyone in their right mind would pay $250 for the ability to get raped monthly on high data charges.
The leading contender is Verizon ellipses which is $50 device instead of $250 and then like $70 a month for 16GB of data.
Cluttering up this mess is random shit like freedom pop and T-Mobile options.
I need 20-30 GB of data a month. I got my cell and work for the rest. Any suggestions?
