To give you a bit of background, I’m in the finance field and a female, in my 30s. For the longest time I’ve wanted to start a blog but I have trouble navigating compliance when it comes to wanting to post personal finance and investing tips, etc. There’s just basically no way I can start a finance related blog AND get it through compliance.
So, I thought of maybe having a personal/lifestyle blog where I basically just get to connect with other women and it would be catered to women “like me”- 20s to 30s, early career types, wine and cocktail enthusiasts, who like to travel (after this quarantine of course) and entertain with friends. I’d like to put tid-bits of advice here and there for career growth, some personal finance hacks I’ve learned, etc.
When I’ve brought this up to friends of mine, I get such negative feedback and they kind of laugh about it. They’ll literally say things like “why are you trying to be an influencer?” or “oh so now you’re going to be a blogger?! What would you blog about?” and it’s just super discouraging. Based on what I wrote above, are my topics self-centered and narcissistic?
Thanks internet friends ❤️
