The primary upside of uploading a video on YouTube is social discovery. The recommendation engine of the platform puts out our content before millions of viewers. This is why everyone is so interested in creating videos all the time on platforms like TikTok, YouTube & so on.
Speaking of monetization, there are a bazillion ways we can monetize our blog content besides the Ad revenue such as -
- Sponsorship Linking
- Product sale
- Affiliate
- Consulting On Your Domain
- Subscription Service
- Lead Generation & so on...
So, from a monetization standpoint, I would always prefer a blog as opposed to having a YouTube channel. Also, we can keep our content updated in a blog, unlike a YouTube video that we have to reshoot.
When it comes to blog content there is only one GOD that is Google Search Engine. If you have it's blessings you'll do good. Otherwise good luck.
And, what about the creative content that people aren't searching for but would love to read. SEO doesn't matter in this use case.
If you are thinking about sharing your content on social networks like Fb, Pinterest, Quora. Speaking from experience, we hardly can promote our content on any social network regularly without getting banned.
Social networks hate outgoing links plus free promotion is against their monetization strategy.
So, I ask why don't we have a blog discovery service that would work just like YouTube? In other words, we can also call this a large scale content aggregation platform.
P.S I am talking about a discovery service, not a platform like Medium. We hardly have any control over our content there.
If there is one please let me know, also I would love to know your thoughts on this...
