Is it better to add the Google Analytics without a plugin or better to use a plugin?

Currently i have it added via a plugin (a few years back) and the plugin is rebranded now to ExactMetrics. I don’t really use it, so I was wondering if it’s a good idea to uninstall it and add the code straight to header.php. I like to keep as less plugins as possible.

Is that a good idea? I’m reading online and a few sources say that GA won’t track everything if added to header only
