I want to totally redo an old post (that is ranked #1 for its keyword). Best way to accomplish that?

I could make a new article and redirect the old one?

I could just gut the article and change all the content, but keep the url and title... but those could be better optimized.

Just have two articles? But then they would compete for the same KW.
