Hello! So, it's been turning in my head the past couple days after hard thinking and discussion that maybe I should start a blog. While ideally I would be getting paid to do it, I know that process takes time and effort. I love to write, and with the amount of times I've been stuck at home the past 2 years do to health, it seems like blogging should just be something I should try, even if I'm just doing it for fun/as an electric journal.
My main problem is identifying my niche and then expanding into that. I'm already having trouble identifying a niche I want to tackle, but now I'm starting to question if my content is suitable for a blog. See, my main background is creative writing, so I love to tell stories and craft tales. I have done creative nonfiction, to some adequate success, and some of the ideas floating in my head for blog posts would use a combination of creative nonfiction and citing some sources to back up an opinion I might have. And that there is my main hangup. When I look at blogs, especially successful/popular ones, they're reviews of products, or giving tips, or making a list of some kind. I'm not seeing myself do that. Everything I have in my head is some kind of story or opinion piece. Is there an audience for this?
I know that, 1. having a site that contains a lot of my writings would be helpful in creating a portfolio or marketing myself as a writer, and 2. that I've only been looking in to blogging for a week at most, but I'm not sold on the idea. It might be a confidence issue, and the ignorance of what a blogger is, but is this even the way I should be pursuing?
