Title says it all. I'm a paranormal investigator. I love the work. I investigate private residences, historical sites with permission from the state/owners, and commercial businesses on a legit team with a good reputation. It's awesome. BUT... it doesn't pay. I'm fine with it not paying, it's somewhat of a community service. We don't charge for our investigations, but sometimes I'm not going to lie, I wish we did. We spend hours investigating, hours reviewing evidence, and often times deal with people who are pretty ungrateful.
When we do public investigations (i.e. investigations guests can join) it's hit or miss. It's stressful. Some guests show up completely drunk and out of their minds while others are amazing and actually participate. It's pretty difficult trying to show people around a historical site (i.e. a museum) when they don't care to listen to the people trying to provide them with an unforgettable experience. What I'll never understand is people who try to join because they're desperately trying to rekindle their love in various (obligatory cough) ways at an abandoned estate.
But I digress... Yep, I'm looking to earn some money. But I also love to write. I've had the idea in my mind for a while now to start a blog about the paranormal. I would talk about alleged haunted locations, have guides on investigating the paranormal, and also guides to start your own team, etc... I've also even thought about hosting frequent writing contests on horror (a genre I personally like to write fiction).
What do you think? I have an idea for a name and have already started to brainstorm topics. But I was wondering if anyone has had similar ideas or advice.
